Dear England

I recently completed the score for Dear England, the BBC drama produced by Left Bank Pictures.

Starring Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid’s Tale) and Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who), and directed by Paul Whittington and Rupert Goold, the series tells the story of Gareth Southgate and the transformation of the England national team.

Recorded with a live orchestra in Budapest, the score is anchored by a sweeping main theme that carries the emotional weight of the series. Guitar-led motifs propel the football sequences, while driving electronic textures bring tension and urgency to key dramatic moments. Together, these elements create a richly textured sound world that reflects both the intimacy of the story and the scale of its defining sporting moments.

The four-part series aired on BBC One in the lead up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
